This loop starts from the Kullu side, climbs the Manali–Leh highway into the cold desert, crosses Hanle and Tso Moriri in the east, then descends toward Kashmir for a Srinagar finish—one of the great Indian road journeys.

- Sunscreen and lip balm are essential; UV is strong even when the air feels cold.
- Some brochure maps mislabel passes on the Manali leg—trust your driver’s live routing on the Manali–Leh highway.
What to pack
- Layered clothing including a down jacket, warm hat, gloves, and a compact rain shell for sudden ridge weather.
- Reusable water bottle, power bank, and cash or UPI for remote dhabas with weak card signals.
- Valid government ID and multiple photocopies for permits; soft bag recommended if internal flights are added later.
